For each category of portfolio, you can set individual preferences. To do this, go to the admin panel in the "Portfolio > Portfolio Categories", select the category of interest and start editing it. Now, to approve custom settings, check the option "Override global settings".
Almost all settings are shown from the General portfolio archive settings. Here the value "Default" means that the option will be taken from the global settings.
