Before you start<\/h2>\n

Groovy is currently in Early Access<\/strong>. These instructions are for the direct-download packages, not an app-store installation. Use a desktop computer with Chrome, Edge, Opera, Yandex Browser, or Firefox. Groovy is a browser extension, not a WordPress plugin or a website you open from a file<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

There are two independent choices: Free or PRO<\/strong> decides which features you get; New Tab or Toolbar<\/strong> decides how you open Groovy.<\/p>\n

1. Choose Free or PRO<\/h2>\n

Free:<\/strong> no payment or license key. All your browser bookmarks and folders, the first 20 automatic previews, your own covers, standard search, themes, and up to three saved widgets.<\/p>\n

PRO:<\/strong> the same workspace with unlimited automatic previews and widgets, semantic search, AI folder organization, and PRO protection tools. Activate it using your purchase license key. OpenRouter usage is billed separately.<\/p>\n

2. Choose how Groovy opens<\/h2>\n

Press +<\/strong> beside your browser tabs.
Groovy is your new-tab page.<\/p>\n

You can also use its extension icon.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n

Click the Groovy extension icon<\/strong>.
Groovy opens when you ask for it.<\/p>\n

Your usual new-tab page stays unchanged.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

New Tab + Toolbar \u2014 \u201cShow my bookmarks whenever I open a new tab.\u201d<\/strong> Press the +<\/strong> beside your browser tabs and Groovy opens. You can also open it from its extension icon.<\/p>\n

Toolbar only \u2014 \u201cKeep my current new-tab page.\u201d<\/strong> Nothing changes when you press +<\/strong>. Open Groovy only when you click its extension icon.<\/p>\n

These are separate installations, not a setting you can switch inside Groovy. New Tab is not the same setting as the browser’s startup pages or Home button.<\/p>\n

For the current public downloads: Chrome and Edge<\/strong> offer New Tab and Toolbar. Firefox<\/strong> offers its own signed New Tab and Toolbar packages. Choose Toolbar for Opera and Yandex Browser<\/strong>. Download only a package listed for your browser; the file format alone is not a compatibility guarantee. A finished Safari release is not available.<\/p>\n

Not sure? Choose Toolbar.<\/strong> It lets you try Groovy without changing your New Tab page. You only need one<\/strong> package, not every download in the list.<\/p>\n

3. Download your package<\/h2>\n

Download Free from the Groovy Bookmark Manager product page<\/a>. PRO downloads are available in your Gumroad library<\/a> after purchase. Use the customer package, not a DEV PRO testing build.<\/p>\n

On the product page, click Download Free<\/strong>, then choose your browser and launch edition. If you bought PRO, open your purchase library and download the matching PRO package. A filename ending in .zip<\/code> is an archive that you must unpack first.<\/p>\n

4. Unpack the ZIP \u2014 Chrome, Edge, Opera, Yandex<\/h2>\n

On Windows, find the download in File Explorer, right-click the ZIP, and choose Extract All\u2026<\/strong>. Extract it to a permanent folder, for example C:\\Groovy\\BookmarkManager<\/code>. Keep this folder: the browser will load the extension from it.<\/p>\n

On macOS, double-click the ZIP to extract it, then move the extracted folder to a permanent location. On Linux, use your file manager’s extract command.<\/p>\n

Open the extracted folder and look for manifest.json<\/strong>. If you see another folder instead, open that folder. The correct installation folder contains manifest.json<\/code>, usually alongside index.html<\/code> and other files.<\/p>\n

Do not open index.html. Do not select the ZIP itself.<\/strong> Reading the files is not the same as installing an extension.<\/p>\n

5. Open your browser’s Extensions page<\/h2>\n

Click the address bar at the top of the browser, paste the matching address below, and press Enter. Paste it into the address bar<\/strong>, not into Google search.<\/p>\n
