Private Vault is separate encrypted storage.

Lock an existing browser folder

Open the folder’s menu and choose its lock action. Select Pattern or Password, enter and confirm your credential, then save it. The pattern uses a 4 × 4 grid and at least six distinct points.

Opening the protected folder in Groovy asks you to unlock it. Leaving it locks it again. Its contents and nested folders are hidden inside Groovy while locked.

The bookmarks remain visible in the browser’s native bookmark manager. This is an interface lock, not protection from someone who can inspect or change your browser profile. Removing protection requires unlocking and confirming the action.

Create an encrypted Private Vault

Choose New private folder in the folder controls. Set a pattern or text password and confirm it. Saved titles and URLs in this Vault are encrypted on this device and are not ordinary entries in the browser’s bookmark tree.

Add links inside the unlocked Vault or use the available copy/move controls for browser bookmarks. The default preserves the original bookmarks: if you keep those originals, they remain visible in the native bookmark manager.

Leaving the Vault locks it again. There is no hidden password-recovery mechanism. Keep your credential safe. Deleting the Vault is a separate destructive action and is not the same as moving an ordinary folder to Groovy Trash.

Require a password for deletion

Enable deletion protection in Settings and set its separate password. Groovy asks for it before protected bookmark/folder deletion actions. Disabling that protection requires the current password too.

This prevents accidental or unauthorized deletion through Groovy’s interface. It cannot block changes made in another extension or the browser’s own bookmark manager.

Local data matters

Uninstalling the extension or deleting its profile can remove protection records and Vault data. A lock cannot recover records that no longer exist.
